WWT is here to make volunteering as easy as possible by providing support with bait, traps, and advice.
Volunteer trappers have 24/7 access to the bait freezer at 211 Glenda Drive (behind Bungy). Please help yourselves to fresh frozen rabbits or Erayz dehydrated rabbit.
Thanks to Top Flight, we also have Luregard artificial eggs available to tide us over until our normal fresh egg supply resumes. These artificial eggs can have long-lasting bait (like Erayz) tucked inside to make them more tempting. We also have AT220 Lure available to volunteers, as well as Pics peanut butter and flour blaze.
Big thanks to our hunters Shaun, Aaron, and Jim for the fresh bunnies! Thanks also to Lotteries Environment and Heritage for Erayz, Love Queenstown for AT220 Lure, and Bidfood for blaze.
Don’t forget we have a trap library of loaner traps based at the DOC Visitor Centre on Stanley Street. We also have a possum nightclub of Flipping Timmy traps available for loan, thanks to Top Flight.
If any trapping groups need their traps mended, updated, or lost traps replaced, please get in touch as we can look at how we can help.

Wasps are a particular summer risk in Otago, so please be aware of the potential for paper wasps to build small nests in box traps, and common wasps to hang around meat baits. If wasps are present, it is usually safer to go back at dusk once they’ve gone to bed. If there’s a large wasp issue with a trap, please let us know.

In December we held our end-of-year Trappernatter at the Fork and Tap in Arrowtown. Around 50 volunteers attended, and certificates were awarded for trapping highlights! It was wonderful to celebrate our trapping community’s incredible efforts over the year.
