Join a trapping group

Why not join an existing trapping group in your area! There are currently over 70 community trapping groups throughout the Whakatipu Basin. Complete our volunteer form, or get in touch at hello@whakatipuwildlifetrust.org.nz to learn more about how to become a volunteer.

We run monthly free beginner trap training sessions for potential volunteers. The sessions cover the predators we are targeting, the different traps we use, how to use the Trap NZ app to record our catches, and hands-on practice of safe operation of the traps.

If you are keen to get trapping, we then sign you up with a trapping group and talk you through the next steps. Find out when our next training session is here.

Events

We hold a variety of events including Trapper Natters, Talks from the Wild Side and more. You can follow us and keep up to date with goings on via our Facebook page, our events page, or by joining our newsletter.

As a non-profit organisation, we rely heavily on financial support from the public to continue and to expand our wildlife restoration and conservation work. Every contribution (no matter how small) helps us do more! 

Your donation will help us to realise the vision of a predator-free Whakatipu, full of native birdsong and wildlife.
